“2017 was definitely an eventful year with a lot of beautiful memories and lessons of growth.”

Firstly, how have you been?

“I’ve been really good, thank you! Really excited to reconnect with this project and to have an insight into the growth that has occurred over the last 4 years! Over the last few months though, I’ve been focusing on my growth and finding a path to the goals I’ve set out for myself. I’m really excited for the wave of art over the next 6 months, as we will have the ability to enjoy it in person again soon.”

Are you still in the same bedroom?

“I’m not, I had moved out and came back home only to find my room confiscated by my sibling! Though I found it quite exciting to have an opportunity to create a completely new sanctuary.”

Looking back at your bedroom in 2017, what has changed?

”Of course the space itself had changed, but in terms of content and energy, my current space is much more open. I decluttered around 3 times in the space of the lockdown and got rid of a lot of old items. I can’t stress enough how much that helped me to also declutter my mind and feel peaceful in my room. Even if the things were hidden, I felt like they still were carrying old and stagnant energy. This then allowed me to fill my space with new items and it opened it up to new opportunities, ideas and growth.”

Can you paint us a picture of what life was like for you back then?

“Back then I was just beginning to find myself and my true essence. I had just begun to recognise my spiritual journey but I’d say I was still holding on to a lot that wasn’t necessary. Still at university, I was quite lost in regards to what I wanted to pursue post degree, but making the connections I did in that year introduced me to my journey in art. 2017 was definitely an eventful year with a lot of beautiful memories and lessons of growth.”

What do you love about your bedroom?

“One of my favourite features is that my bed is next to a huge window so on clear nights I can star gaze whilst in my bed, and on some nights the moon aligns right outside my window and I can sleep with moonlight on my face. I also love the vibrancy and freshness that comes from all my plants and greenery, especially when I have incense burning.”

What does your bedroom mean to you?

“That it acts as a sanctuary that I can escape to. It also acts as my art studio so that is where I birth my creativity and passion. Cliché, but it really is a world of my own and is also very intimate to me. My bedroom to me is the epitome of the word “personal” as it is the room version of me.”

How much time do you spend in your bedroom?

“All my time pretty much unless I am on my roof or going out. As I work and rest in my space, I love indulging in the solitude and privacy of my room.”

What's the most recent addition to your bedroom?

“The plant on my window sill and (I’m not sure if this counts) the new pieces that I’ve made.”

What inspired you to decorate your room this way?

“It’s a mix between functionality and aesthetic and is mostly inspired by the teachings of Feng shui, which originates from ancient China and talks about the impact of arranging objects, buildings and space to maximise energetic well-being. The primary focus of my space is art, though the way I’ve incorporated it into my sanctuary was highly influenced by the need to also have a tidy and organised room, that looks and feels pretty.”

If you could change anything about your bedroom, what would it be?

“The amount of space - I like BIG rooms with lots of light! Sometimes I do feel a little claustrophobic in my room, especially if I make a mess, so having a larger room is something I’m working towards. Also hardwood floors!! I lowkey hate carpet.”

In 4 years time, where do you want to be?

“In 4 years, I think it’s safe and needed to predict that I will finally have my dream bedroom - a room with only a bed and a dresser, with the bed in the middle of the room, surrounded by plants! As for life, I see myself fully immersed in my creative pursuits, working towards my goals and career. Personally, I’d also like to be on top of my health, eating an all organic and alkaline diet, growing a patch of veg and herbs and spending plenty of time in nature and travelling!”
