“It doesn’t feel like an “insta” or “show” bedroom, it’s full of personality and I feel like looking around you can get a good sense of what I like and what type of person I am”

Firstly, how have you been?

“I’ve been better than expected, been trying to find things to look forward to and keep busy with.”

Are you still in the same bedroom?

“No, since those pictures I’ve had 3 different bedrooms.”

Looking back at your bedroom in 2017, what has changed?

“Apart from the location and size of my bedroom, not much has really changed apart from things are different on the pin board, and new trinkets on the wall shelf. And obviously I’ve changed... grown up got new goals and aspirations than what I did back in 2017 fresh out of uni hahaha.”

Can you paint us a picture of what life was like for you back then?

“Okay so, I had just freshly graduated from uni, my performing career was just starting to take off, I was busy haha. Started my teaching journey at a local dance school which would eventually help me discover my passion for teaching. I was very blasé about everything, didn’t really have an end goal just yet, going with the flow. It was also a scary time finishing uni as it was the first time in my life that I had no educational structure to follow and I actually didn’t know what I was going to do with my days, weeks and months to follow. Nobody to tel me what to do or where to be.”

What do you love about your bedroom?

“I actually really like the size, it feels compact and cute without feeling like a box bedroom. I love the bronze/copper touches that are in there like the drawers knobs. I also love that’s its me like I have all my plushies and my favourite things I like on display. It doesn’t feel like an “insta” or “show” bedroom, it’s full of personality and I feel like looking around you can get a good sense of what I like and what type of person I am.”

What does your bedroom mean to you?

“My bedroom to me, is my safe place. Somewhere where I can express my creativity without worrying about others tastes or likes and dislikes. No one can tell me how I can and can’t have my bedroom or what to put in it, it’s all me. It’s very much a safe creative explosion space.”

How much time do you spend in your bedroom?

“I mean since lockdown I definitely spent a lot of time in my bedroom, I’d sleep in longer, take mid afternoon naps and of course go to bed on a night time. I defo enjoyed the extra time in there I think, it was a space I could create any type of mood or atmosphere I wanted in it.”

What's the most recent addition to your bedroom?

“Most recent addition would be the new “kids” we bought back from Canada (plushies) hahah 2 new pigs.”

What inspired you to decorate your room this way?

“Erm I think it started because we liked geometric shapes so we found a light fixture, a table light and basket and then the walls were already white so thought what would would look classy with white and then went with copper hahah nothing to out of the ordinary that inspired us.”

If you could change anything about your bedroom, what would it be?

“I would change the size to be bigger. I know I said I enjoyed the cuteness and compactness of it however when it’s just me in Crawley without Kinden, the size is perfect but when Kinden is here it can feel a little cramped with two people living in it. We’d also be able to display a lot more of our belongings which would give us more creative freedom in there.”

In 4 years time, where do you want to be?

“In 4 years we really want to have been in our own house with a bigger space. We would love to be on the road to having our own businesses and also hopefully married or in the process of it. Hahah so quite a lot to do in 4 years to be honest.”
