“We moved in the pandemic, so I work and sleep in the same room.”

Firstly, how have you been?

“I’ve been pretty well thank you!”

Are you still in the same bedroom?

“No, last October my mum and I moved from our London flat to a house in Surrey.”

Looking back at your bedroom in 2017, what has changed?

“I graduated from uni, moved back home and then sadly our schnauzer Monty died. I worked in retail for a bit, then got an internship with a tv production company which is where I still work now. I’m working on my mum to get another dog but she’s not having any of it.”

Can you paint us a picture of what life was like for you back then?

“I was in second year of uni completing an English degree, without a clue as to what to do with my life. I’d just come home for Easter break I think, and I had been going out with my new boyfriend for about two months, who is now my current boyfriend! Our dog Monty was about barking at any noise he heard and chasing squirrels in the garden.”

What do you love about your bedroom?

“The freshness of the space.”

What does your bedroom mean to you?

“This new bedroom means we’re moving on. Although I haven’t yet flown the nest, my family struggled with the tiny space of the London flat. It had two bedrooms and there was four of us. My father passed away when I was 17, and then there was three. The flat had a sadness to it, which couldn’t be shook off. My mum started chasing her forever home. I hope this is it.”

How much time do you spend in your bedroom?

“We moved in the pandemic, so I work and sleep in the same room.”

What's the most recent addition to your bedroom?

“The amber vase and green bottle with dried lavender.”

What inspired you to decorate your room this way?

“Interior Design Masters on Netflix, someone did cool skirting boards, I love that show. Also, Instagram algorithms probably intercepted my brain.”

If you could change anything about your bedroom, what would it be?

“I would have one of those wall bookcases where you need a sliding ladder to get stuff from the top shelf. Probably the worst fire hazard ever.”

In 4 years time, where do you want to be?

“29 years old, that’s a terrifying thought. Hopefully, I’ve moved out of my mum’s house, I’m in a property with my boyfriend and we have a dog called Laika. I’m sure I will have taken over the decorating, so our bedroom is a multi-coloured hodge podge, with some kind of ridiculous wallpaper. By this stage in life, I’ve either shot a documentary, sold my first feature-film or maybe signed a book…manifesting…manifesting…”
